Meater 2 Plus has more sensors in the probe with which it measures the core temperature of the meat with even more accuracy. The 2 Plus can handle higher temperatures on the inside and outside of the meat, so you can even grill directly with it. The probe is also thinner, so you can use the Meater in thinner cuts of meat and it leaves less of a gap in the meat. The thickness of the probe is a major factor for many, especially because you are not always going to prepare huge pieces of meat.

The Meater 2 Plus comes in a small wooden holder that acts as a base station and charger for the probe. It has a beautiful design with a small housing (157 x 23 x 37 mm) and therefore fits perfectly on your kitchen countertop, in a drawer, outdoor kitchen or on your refrigerator or on another cool metal surface thanks to the magnets on the back.
A single AAA battery in the charger charges the probe as soon as it is placed back in the case and reaches 50% charge in a few minutes, which is enough for 12 hours of continuous temperature measurements.
The probe itself is approximately 125 mm long and approximately 5 mm wide. There is a pointed end for inserting it into the meat and a mark on the stainless steel indicating how far into the meat the probe should be. There's a thin ceramic band on the top to send the readings back to your smartphone or tablet and a square end that must remain outside the meat for measuring the ambient temperature.
There are more sensors in the probe than before. There are now 5 sensors that measure the core temperature and 1 sensor in that environment measures temperature, all with an accuracy of +/- 0.3 degrees Celsius. The probe can measure core temperature up to 105ºC (221ºF) and up to 500ºC (932ºF) for ambient temperature. This is a big plus for those who often cook outside on the Kamado or on the gas barbecue or grill. The 1st model, the original Meater and the Meater Plus 1 can handle up to a maximum temperature of 275ºC.
