Maintenance Instructions Before you start using your new wok, it is important to season it first. This process effectively creates a non-stick coating, as metal woks do not have this as standard.

When you receive the wok, it is already coated with factory oil to prevent rust formation during transport. Begin by thoroughly scrubbing off this layer with a scouring pad and water. Once this is complete, your wok is ready to be heated.

Place the wok over high heat and let it heat up for about 1 minute. You can test the temperature by dropping a few drops of water onto the wok; if they evaporate immediately, the wok is hot enough. Remove the wok from the heat, pour in 2 tablespoons of sunflower oil, and distribute it evenly over the surface by swirling the wok.

Now it is time to season the wok again. Place the pan back on high heat and keep rotating it so that all parts are heated evenly. During this process, the wok will turn slightly darker in color. Repeat this for 15 to 20 minutes.

After the seasoning process is complete, wash the wok again with only water and a stiff brush. Then dry the wok by placing it over low heat for 1 to 2 minutes, until all the water has evaporated.

If you want to store the wok for a longer period, make sure to grease it well with a natural oil to prevent rust formation.

Washing up: Always wash the wok with water and a sponge only, never with dishwashing liquid, as this can remove the non-stick coating. This way, the wok retains a thin layer of oil. Do not dry the wok with a tea towel, but let it stand on low heat for 1-2 minutes until all the water has evaporated. This helps to further strengthen the non-stick coating.
