The differences between the Traeger series

Traeger Woodridge: which version do you need?

The Woodridge series consists of three versions. They combine automatic temperature control with WiFIRE and the EZ Clean system, but differ in cooking capacity, smoking options, and equipment.

The Woodridge offers 5,548 cm² of cooking surface and is intended for those seeking ease of use above all else. The Woodridge Pro adds Super Smoke, a pellet sensor, more cooking space, and a folding side table. The Woodridge Elite has the same key grilling features as the Pro, but further distinguishes itself with extra insulation and an integrated storage cabinet.

The European Woodridge Elite does not come with the side burner shown in some images of American versions. Therefore, always check which version you are buying.

Traeger Timberline L or Timberline XL?

The Timberline combines a pellet grill with an integrated induction hob. This allows you to prepare a sauce, for example, or sear a dish in a suitable pan while the pellet grill cooks the main course.

Both Timberline models feature three grill levels and extensive options for temperature control and smoking. The Timberline L offers a spacious cooking layout. With an 8,516 cm² cooking surface, the Timberline XL has extra capacity for larger preparations.

The choice between L and XL mainly revolves around the required cooking space and the room you have available. Both versions offer the integrated induction hob.

Why choose a Traeger pellet grill?

A Traeger uses wood pellets as fuel. You set the desired temperature, and the system automatically regulates the pellet feed and airflow. As a result, you need to manually adjust the fire less than with a traditional charcoal barbecue.

That is convenient for long cooking times such as pulled pork, brisket, and spareribs. But a Traeger is not just a smoker. You can also grill, bake, and roast on it. This way, you can prepare a whole chicken as well as vegetables, burgers, or a complete dinner on the same barbecue.

The combination of wood-fired flavor, temperature control, and versatility makes a Traeger interesting for people who enjoy cooking outdoors but do not want to constantly deal with fuel and air supply.

What is Wi-Fi at Traeger?

WiFIRE is the technology that allows compatible Traeger pellet grills to connect to the Traeger app. After manually starting the grill, you can use your smartphone to monitor and adjust the temperature, among other things. Depending on the model, you can also track the progress via temperature probes and the pellet level.

This is especially useful for longer cooking times. You can monitor the temperature without having to constantly stand next to the barbecue. WiFIRE does not mean you can light a Traeger remotely. The grill must be started manually beforehand.

The Traeger Ranger does not have WiFIRE. The other models in BBQ Valley's current pellet grill range do feature this technology.

What does Super Smoke do?

Super Smoke is a feature that allows compatible Traeger models to generate extra smoke at lower cooking temperatures. This is useful when you want to add more wood smoke flavor to, for example, spareribs, pulled pork, or brisket.

Super Smoke is available on the Woodridge Pro, Woodridge Elite, Ironwood, and Timberline. The standard Woodridge and Ranger do not have this feature.

What is EZ Clean?

On the Woodridge, Ironwood, and Timberline, the EZ Clean system ensures central collection of grease and ash. This makes residues more easily accessible after use and simplifies cleaning.

A pellet grill still requires regular maintenance. Remove grease and ash according to the manual and check the grill before starting a new batch.

Traeger pellets and accessories

With the right wood pellets, you tailor the flavor to the dish you are preparing. Think of oak, apple, cherry, or a blended wood. Which flavor you choose depends on the dish and how much smoky flavor you want to add.

At BBQ Valley, you will find various wood pellets for pellet grills , including Traeger pellets. Use pellets suitable for pellet grills and store them in a dry place.

With suitable accessories, you make your Traeger even more practical. Think of a protective case, extra workspace, temperature probes, grilling tools, and maintenance products.

The options vary by model. Therefore, check whether an accessory is suitable for your version before ordering it.

FAQ
